Salmon Sighting in McAleer Creek, October 11-14, 2000

We saw spawning salmon in McAleer Creek, where it meets NE 178th Street, near Animal Acres Park. (Click on photos to enlarge.)
One salmon was visible just by the bridge (and a couple of others were under the rhododendron bush).
The photo below was taken on Oct 11. Note the white spots on the back are relatively small.
Three days later, on Oct 14, there was a salmon there that looked just like the one seen three days earlier, but the white marks were larger. We think it's the same one, staying (guarding?) where it spawned, and nearing exhaustion.
Once in a while, it starts splashing hard,
swims upstream a bit
and comes back to its favorite resting spot.
