Pacific Giant Salander |

| September 25, 2003. Brookside Creek, near the Cole Name Preserve, a Coastal (Pacific) Salamander (Dicamptodon tenebrosus) was sighted. Learn more about it at this USGS site. It is a species at risk. Much of the Pacific giant salamander’s historic habitat has been degraded or lost. They are listed as threatened by Canada Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada (COSEWIC) and are now protected by law in Canada.
