On Aug. 20, 2011, Mayor Dave Hutchinson presided over an informal ceremony to mark the opening of both of the new trails in the southwest portion of the Park. The first new trail was constructed in the Fall of 2009. The second new trail was constructed in the winter of 2011.

This map shows the new trail that was built this year:

The trail was planned, and construction was supervised, by the Volunteers For Outdoor Washington (VOW). All labor required for the construction of the trail was by performed by volunteers, organized by VOW and by the LFP Stewardship Foundation.

This is the site at the top of the hill in the southwest corner
of the park, where the three trails converge. The former
property owner had sought permits to build a house with
a 6000 square foot footprint at this location.
