Aug. 24, 2003, before work starts

This photo was taken from on top of the earthen dam at the downstream end of the pond.

The outlet of the culvert through the dam. Through this culvert passed the entire flow of Brookside Creek at this point.

Before the backhoe went to work; a good part of the pond had already been drained mechanically via the white drainpipe. The view is on top of the dam on the Hoy property, looking upstream.

The backhoe has been digging from the downstream side. This is just before the dam is breached.

It's gone.

September 11, 2003

The new stream channel is being dug.

September 13, 2003

This is the old pond, mostly emptied, with a newly formed Brookside Creek meandering through the mud.

The new stream channel, still dry.

Raymond helping Kevin drive the backhoe.

Preparing a spot for the cedar log weir.

Placing the log weir. Brian and Kevin got it right the first time - level within a half inch or so.

Filling in just below the log weir.

Dredging a new pond, just upstream of the log weir.

September 21, 2003

The bulk of the heavy work is done; Brookside Creek flows freely through its new channel.
